The company responded very quickly to my initial enquiry, even arranging collection of the failed disk, that evening. I was kept informed of progress at each stage. A telephone call would alert me to any emails requiring my attention. The data recovery was completed very quickly. A list of recovered folders/files were emailed for me to approve. Overall the service was very professional. However, the cost was the only downside. It may not be much to a corporate customer, but it comes as a shock for a personal user. However, the recovery of important, once in a lifetime photos, for my son was worth the expense.

You're a small business and have lost your data - who do you choose? The cheapest...the most expensive? I went for Xyton because they were in the middle: they have the tools for the job, don't offer suspiciously low prices but don't price themselves merey for big businesses. The website coud have better info on re the process and rough approx of costs, but other than that they were vey communicative, swift AND SUCCESSFULL,asking for more info o locations of the most precipus files and following direction which resulted in all my data being recovered. I can recommend Xyton.

Xytron recovered over 700GB of data from our external hard drive which had suffered a broken head and scratched disc. Some of the files are corrupt but most of our precious photos and video were recovered. Disklabs and another well respected company in data recovery were unable to retrieve any data due to the severity of the damage. Having suffered the trauma of the fatal blue screen, I asked a local IT company to recover the data from the hard drive of our laptop. After nearly a week, I was told they could not recover anything and was referred to a company with a London address, based in Wales. The forum reviews were dreadful and very frightening; given the valuable database I was hoping to recover. I spent a long time researching alternatives and was impressed with the reviews for Xytron Data Recovery on both this site and others. I was, however, concerned that they were also based in Wales! After speaking to Richard Cuthbertson and being assured there was no connection, I agreed to send my hard drive for recovery. I can reassure anyone in the same position that you can absolutely rely on Xytron Data Recovery to provide a service second to none. They were honest throughout the process - even warning me that because the local IT company had left my hard drive running for a week, it had reduced the possibility of recovery. Their communication was excellent and I was always able to speak to someone with expert knowledge - without being kept waiting. I initially spoke to Richard on 30 August (Tuesday) and he arranged collection of my hard drive by courier the next day. By 2 September (Friday), I was emailed a zipped folder containing details of all the files that could be recovered, including our vital data file. I was also provided with a fixed price quote, if I wished to proceed, which I was delighted to. On 5 September (Monday), the courier delivered the old hard drive and a passport drive, loaded with all the data files, which have now been successfully restored. Xytron are by no means cheap; but they are fantastic value for money and provide a level of customer service that is almost unheard of nowadays. If you are reading this in the hope of finding a trustworthy solution for your data recovery, I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Xytron handled my data recovery professionally from start to finish, arranged collection of my data from my home and recovered it all and returned it on a new hard drive. Xytron was able to recover data off a long dead laptop hard drive. Service was quick and responsive, and I am satisfied with the results. My only two minor issues with the service are: (1) the parcel pickup service arrived an hour before the time I specified, and (2) I wish the cost of the external hard drive for the recovered data had been stated up front.

I don't mean by rating Xytron 5 for value for money that their services come cheap, but for what they managed to do for me I can't fault them and consider it money very well spent: if what you need is your data back regardless of anything else these are the folks for you. I dropped my MacBook Pro from a considerable height onto concrete while fumbling with the new lock on the office in my back garden the other evening and thought I'd lost a job for a client I'd nearly finished and 9 months of work on a book of my own which has an imminent deadline with a publisher (later turned up my latest backup wasn't there on my spare HDD). As a knee jerk reaction to my initial loss, I nearly employed Fields Data Recovery to do the recovery work. I'm glad I didn't, since they materialise as a scam. Much researching later, I settled on Xytron. They have comfortably the most and best reviews on this site, and they were professional and helpful over the phone. The DHL pickup comes when they said it would, and the turn around is rapid. In all, I had the data back within a week. Regular emails were sent keeping me abreast of the progress, and they were honest with the cost. I received a DVD today will all the data I had requested, which arrived by DHL courier exactly when they said it would. The recovery is expensive; mine cost just shy of £500, however the service is excellent. You pay for what you get, and in this case it's professionalism and honesty. However if Xytron are unable to recover the data, they are honest enough to inform you that they can do no more. Sometimes we all have to admit defeat. As a company we fully respect the terms and conditions of Xytron where payment is concerned and based on the current economy it is important companies are paid on time for the service they carry out. Although, at the discretion of Xytron, it would have been far more easier if they could have allowed our company to make full payment for their services based on our Purchase Order system and finalise payment at a later date. Over the past thirty years I've written about 25 novels and have had my fill of data loss starting with a Model 1 TRS 80 in 1982 that used to dine on 5-inch floppies when they cost 30 pounds for a box of 12, but nothing prepared for this month's disaster when two hard discs -- my working and my backup -- both went tango uniform together! It was a disaster because I'd been working long hours on the biggest project of my life. I approached Xytron in Mid-December after my 1tb Seagate external HD had failed, and my local PC repair shop advised me to seek out a data recover specialist. I lost a month of work for clients that I had not yet backed up. I was incredibly worried after I sent my 'dead' external hard drive off on a Monday morning, but I was soon reassured by the great service I received from Xytron. They keep you informed at every stage from the point they receive it and throughout the investigative process. They even managed to return my hard drive by the Friday of the same week even though I had paid for slower the 7-10 day service. The service was more expensive than I had hoped but I was aware the drive was pretty 'dead' after a friend who is an IT specialist said there was little chance of recovery. Compared to the amount of time it would have taken to do all my work again it was good value. The technicians were helpful and informative and they even gave me unbiased advice on backing up and which external drives were more relaiable than others free of charge. Very helpful and responsive.

I had a laptop that was heavily dropped whilst the disc was in use. Consequently there was significant physical damage to the disc surface and the drive seemed to be a write-off. It would not boot or even be recognised when plugged into another PC via USB caddy. However Xytron were able to retrieve 98% of the data and returned the files to me on a replacement drive, ready to use. This saved me considerable time retrieving what data I could from old archives and as the last backup I had performed was around 6 months earlier Xytron saved me losing the data created in the interim. This meant I was able to restore my music library, photos of the kids, emails, letters etc. Cost was right at the high end of the quoted spectrum but was well worth it considering what I would have lost. Taking into account the fact that ten years ago this service cost thousands, often with limited success the price is very reasonable. Richard was very professional and reassuring. He explained the process in detail, gave a pragmatic view on the likely outcome and completed the work promptly. I would recommend using Xytron to anyone.

Not only was I impressed with the fact that Xytron were able to recover very important data for us from a seriously damaged hard drive when all seemed lost, but Xytron demonstrated an understanding of how important it was for us to recover that data; they treated it as if it were their own business data, and so went out of their way to get us back up and running. I had lost some very important portrait photographs as my drive developed the 'click of death'. I had used a data recovery company before with the same problem and got ripped off and was vary wary about data recovery companies after that experience. I was very impressed with the speed and expertise, in the way that Xytron attended to my dilema, of losing the data from the HDD. The friendly and assuring way in the manner that Mr Richard Cuthburtson attended to my loss was very reassuring. My only gripe would have to be the cost of the work carried out. Having been quoted a price of £195+vat and eventually paying £275+vat for the data recovery, I found to be very expensive for a pensioneer . However I was more than pleased to have recovered all my photographs on the HDD.

When data is lost the customer needs reassurance and prompt action. Xytron provided this with personal calls, progress reports and speedy service. If a similar disaster happened I would use them again. (portable hard disk dropped by researcher, in field)

When I moved my HDD from my old PC to my new one what should have been a simple unplug and transfer, turned to nightmare when the HDD stopped being recognised. Particularly when I saw some of the straight-off quotes to try and recover the data. However, Xytron to my rescue. I wouldn't say it was inexpensive cost for me, but then no complex recovery is (A good reason for making backups). And what price do you put on regaining some lost personal information. However, I had prompt action and advice all the way along on what was needing to be done. And in the end they successfully recovered all the data I needed. I believe Xytron earnt their money on this one. If I had to, would I turn to them again, yes. Though a HDD crash with no backup is not something I would want to experience again. Would I recommend them to somebody else. Yes.

Inspected my damaged hard drive and advised on retrieveability of data, all at no cost nor any wild promises or sales pressure. When given the go-ahead, achieved exactly what they had predicted and were polite, curteous and prompt throughout. On the downside they weren't cheap (although others promised to charge even more, even before prognosis, with the caveat that even if they failed a full charge would follow.
